Moor Audio
Consumer audio · Hebden Bridge, United Kingdom · 2025
Launch identity, packaging system, and direct-to-consumer site for a Yorkshire loudspeaker maker's first product, the M1 bookshelf speaker.
Moor Audio is two acoustic engineers who left a defence contractor to build loudspeakers. Their first product measured exceptionally and looked the part — but hi-fi marketing runs on either walnut-veneer nostalgia or audiophile mysticism, and they refused both. They needed a launch that could sell a £749 speaker from a brand nobody had heard of, on evidence alone.
We made the measurements the brand. The frequency response curve is printed across the packaging; the site publishes the full test data, the crossover schematic, and the anechoic measurement conditions; every claim links to a graph. Typography does the persuading — engineering numerals at poster scale — because when the evidence is this good, decoration would only dilute it.
The launch site runs on a single page with the confidence of a specification sheet: listen, measure, buy. Reviews were seeded by lending units to independent measurement channels rather than lifestyle press.
The first production run of 1,200 pairs sold out in eleven days, carried by measurement-forum word of mouth. Two of the three largest independent audio reviewers cited the transparency of the published data as the reason they requested a unit. The second run pre-sold before it left the factory.
